About us
ASCL has a continually growing membership of over 15,000 members from secondary schools and colleges, independent and special schools. Readers are head teachers, deputy and assistant heads, chief education officers, senior teachers and their equivalents (principals, vice principals) in sixth form and further education colleges, mostly aged 30-60. Members are located throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. All members of the Girls' School Association (GSA) and Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC) are members of ASCL.
The changes in school status to community, foundation and voluntary categories, and the accompanying overall increase of delegation of responsibility and resources to schools, mean that ASCL members more than ever before are key decision makers in terms of school budgets and purchasing, running budgets in excess of £2m. Leader magazine reaches and influences the decision makers of today and tomorrow and is distributed nine times throughout the year (three times each spring, summer and autumn term) to the leaders of the UK's secondary schools and colleges and has an average circulation of 15,000.
ASCL provides all professional services to members including advice, support, training and a wide range of publications. As a respected national organisation, ASCL is a leading body in influencing the development of education across the UK.
